Description: The Master of Integrated Product Design programme is a degree programme intended for those seeking professional mastery at the highest level in the field of product design. Integrated Product Design is a systematic approach to product development that deals with all aspects relevant for the design of a new product, such as function, form, use, production, sales, economics and sustainability. The IPD master focuses on the integration of these aspects and covers all phases of the product development process. The IPD program centres around mass produced consumer products and include product service systems and products for professional applications.
IPD students learn to adapt the design process to the demands of specific design problems and design contexts. They learn how to perform complex design activities with modern methods and advanced design technologies. They also learn to plan, execute and manage complex product development processes in multidisciplinary teams and distributed environments.
The IPD programme offers a balanced mix of theory and practice. Courses like Design Manifestation, Ergonomics, Life Cycle Engineering, Smart Systems and Technologies, Advanced Design Support and two master projects provide students with advanced specialist knowledge relating to form-giving, design engineering, sustainability and design tools. In projects students learn to apply this knowledge to realistic complex design problems.
The main subject focused on during the B.Sc. phase should match the M.Sc. degree course you intend to pursue at TU Delft.
Professional experience is not required, but relevant work experience can compensate for deficiencies in the relevance of educational background.
Detailed portfolio requirements can be found on our website. The essay of 2000-3000 words should cover the following topics: Your motivation for the M.Sc. programme of your choice, Why you wish to conduct this programme abroad and/or in the Netherlands in particular, Why you are interested in TU Delft. If there are optional specialisations in the Master programme of your choice: which specialisation(s) interest you most, and why? Also, elaborate three examples of Master thesis topics that interest you and explain your particular interest. Finally, a brief summary (maximum 250 words) of the thesis work or the final assignment done for your Bachelor study and state the credits, grade, and full workload.
